* Your boys at We Own This Town are back with another installment of that podcast they do. It's Volume 46, and it features tunes from locals including Hanzelle, By Lightning! (who have an album release coming up ... more on that later), Field Days, Happy Little Trees and more. Get it as an M4A or an MP3.
* American Songwriter was recently purchased by Albie Del Favero. That might not mean a lot to you, fair reader. But Del Favero was the founding publisher here at the Nashville Scene, and in regard to AS, Del Favero says, "American Songwriter has a solid niche, a highly recognizable brand and is profitable." The passion is palpable!
And in other Monday bits: JEFF the Brotherhood's Jamin Orrall did an interview with Blare Magazine, and he talked about Britney Spears rarities and liking Jay Reatard more than Pavement. AP's Joe Edwards wrote something about the National Folk Festival (taking place here in Nashville this year), and The Seattle Times ran it. It's got weird vibes (e.g., "If visitors want a taste of American culture, there's a Hard Rock Cafe on the downtown waterfront. And a Hooters"). Texas State has a student-run radio station (fancy that!) and their Mandie Garcie likes Turbo Fruits' Echo Kid.
