* Apache Relay was at Bonnaroo, not only playing, but also straight kickin' it onstage with Mumford and Sons. And it's plain to see why. Not unlike the Mumfords, Apache Relay is, as Adam Gold put it in his Mumfords coverage, "the Americana boom's answer to Coldplay — they're trying to see what a pickin' party would sound like at Wembley Stadium." See Apache Relay's video for "Home Is Not Places" above, in which they get both heartfelt and aggro with their delivery.
* Madi Diaz has a Daytrotter session. I personally find "Johnny Don't Race" to be a dense, New Wave-inspired, lush pop number. DT's Sean Moeller drops the names Stevie Nicks and Ronnie Spector in talking about Madi. High praise. Check it out.
* Do you want to see some footage of one of the most naturally talented drummers in Nashville? Scott Martin brought his one-man project, Hobbledeions, to Betty's recently, and you can watch a video here. The guy, to use a technical term, is absolutely sick.
