Awwwwwwww SHIT!!! It’s almost that time — time for too much fun in too much sun, son — as we’re arriving at the brink of Bonnaroo X. That means many of my brain cells are on the eve of their destruction. But, right now, I’m thinking back to my more innocent days. Let me ask you: Do you remember what you got for your 10th birthday? I think I got to go to Six Flags, or something. Well, Bonnaroo — an inanimate entity with a helluva lotta soul — gets it’s very own “official” theme song. Check out The Del McCoury Band and Preservation Hall Jazz Band performing their collaborative, commemorative composition “Bonnaroo (Feel the Magic)” in the clip above.
An update on the festival’s official site (on the web, not at Great Stage Park) proclaims:
[The song] will hereby serve as our National Anthem, our howl of joyous pride, our exclamation of exuberance, our own rally cry of sorts.
A post on Pollstar reports that Lil Wayne and Juvenile producer Mannie Fresh are already at work on a hip-hop remix of the jam-fest-friendly jam — which was serendipitously born by the two bands when a 3 a.m. Chicago snow storm forced them to share a bus together. The magical ditty is currently available on iTunes.
Now point your peepers to an out-of-focus video (below) capturing Bonnaroo’s unofficial national anthem:
