Jay-Z Likes JEFF, Los Straitjackets on NPR and Jack White Won't Be Writing Tunes for Kinks Musical [Newsy Bits]

* Well, we already have our Tweet(s) of the Week, otherwise the above certainly would've been a contender. Jay-Z's Life + Times recently profiled JEFF the Brotherhood, calling them "unabashed party rockers and curators" who "are a vital piece of a burgeoning, self-contained Nashville music scene." L+T got some footage from JEFF's recent show at The Other Basement with King Tuff and a tour of the Infinity Cat HQ, and you can see the vid after the jump.

* Nashville-based surf rockers Los Straitjackets were on Fresh Air back in 2007, but since LS is playing a series of benefit shows on behalf of member Danny Amis — who is currently recovering from cancer treatment — excerpts from the interview were rebroadcast yesterday. Stream via NPR. One of the aforementioned benefits will take place Thursday, June 9, at Mercy Lounge, and we'll have some pickage on that one in this week's dead-tree edish.

* Remember how Jack White was maybe going to do the music for that Kinks musical Bobcat Goldthwait is directing and Ray Davies is producing? Ain't happenin'. While White "has great respect for the Kinks and the film’s director, Bobcat Goldthwait," says a rep, he "has no plans to record any music for the film.” The show must go on! [Via]
