* Old-timey indie-folkers The Decemberists will be playing The Ryman on Aug. 6, and guess who's opening. Local trad-country songstress Caitlin Rose, that's who. Tickets are already on sale. And from the sad news department: The Decemberists' Jenny Conlee was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, but she caught it early. Here's hoping for a full recovery.
* Those Darlins will be opening Old 97s' two-night stand at Mercy Lounge on July 8 and 9. What's more, the Darls say you can earn a free MP3 of their new album's titular tune "Screws Get Loose" just by buying tickets to one of those shows — or to any of their shows — via this site right here.
* Third Man Records recently announced that you can already pre-order the forthcoming 7-inch Blue Series single from Seasick Steve — you know, the ol' blues picker fella who played TMR's Rolling Record Store at SXSW. The single is called "Write Me a Few Lines," and you can order it here. Seasick Steve will also release an LP, titled You Can't Teach an Old Dog New Tricks, via Third Man in the coming months.
