Party and Bullsh*t: This Week in Nashville Hip-Hop [Starlito, Classic Williams, Ducko McFli]

Welcome to the first installment of "Party and Bullsh*t," the Cream's new hip-hop column. If you haven't noticed, the hip-hop scene has been on fire lately, and I/we are going to try our best to cover as much of it as space and taste permit. If you've got a hot new track, dope new video, or bad ass hip-hop show, hit me up on Twitter. Alright, on to the important shit:

* I'm worried about Starlito! Or maybe I'm not. 'Lito's new tape @War With Myself is exactly that: an inner struggle put on tape over some really gritty funk from producers Blaze One, Coop and Lil Lody. It's honest and raw, and features one of the city's best lyricists tackling some serious shit — it's one of the best tapes of this Nashville veteran's career, hands down. [Bandcamp]

* Classic Williams has been around for a minute, but his new tape The Soul of Nigger Charlie: A) bins points for riffing on one of the more random moments in Fred Williamson's film career, and B) is really, really good. Hard deep funk seems to be percolating out of every studio in the city at the moment and I can't say I mind. [Classic Williams]

* Ducko McFli has a new beat tape out — always a happy time in the Maloney household. Smoked Out is, well, smoked-out-sounding — smooth, funky, spaced out from time to time, great for a long bone-cruise on a summer's day. McFli has an ear for interesting samples and rich textures that really make for interesting, fun listening. Another winner from the P.U.S.H. Production camp. [Mediafire]
