* All week I've had this horrifying feeling that if I didn't post something about Charlie Sheen, my Internet privleges would be taken away. And since I can't stop watching this, I figured I'd better drop a little Tiger Blood on you. Wick-It's womped-up take on the Meltdown of the Century is one of the cooler — and dare I say, more sympathetic — takes on the whole meme, and let's face it: The whole meme-song-thing is the future of the music industry. I'm going to start lobbying for a "Friday"/"Friday" mashup right now. Oh, and you can buy his remix of the "Bed Intruder Song" over at iTunes. If you're not convinced that Steve Jobs is singlehandedly destroying the music business, I mean.
* Dee Goodz — who's been on a hot streak as of late after a packed out show at The End, a hot opening slot for Questlove and an upcoming show with Raekwon — dropped his latest mixtape Floetic Justice 2: B.O.T.H. this week. I've been listening to it all day, and I gotta say it's a really satisfying piece of contemporary hip-hop. Steeped in the classics but undeniably modern, FJ2 is a cohesive 27 tracks with a finely-tuned sense of dynamics and a lyrical dexterity that showcases an MC really hitting his stride — basically, it's his best tape yet. Original tracks meld seamlessly with classic beats; the cuts, blends and drops from DJs Omega and Crisis are smooth and unobtrusive. And Dee's delivery is casual and confident in the best possible sense. Definitely check out "Hittin Licks" with OpenMic, who's one of the best up-and-coming rappers in town. [HulkShare]
* And while we're at it, have you heard the EP, Shack Attack, that Kidsmeal & Sam dropped last month? It's dope, even if it did fall into some sort of press/web wormhole. OK, it was under the passenger seat in my car. But I found it this weekend, just in time for that all-too brief moment of gorgeous, glorious sunshine, and it's definitely gonna be in rotation nonstop this summer. Glitchy and twitchy with a serious dubbed-out thump underneath, Shack Attack is a shit-ton of deep electronic fun. Download it for free over at Kidsmeal's shiny new website. [DJ Kidsmeal]
* Oh, and Ke$ha was drinking blood onstage in Australia this weekend. I don't care what you say, that is fucking awesome.
