Do you like vinyl records? Do you like contests? Do you like JEFF the Brotherhood and United Record Pressing and South by Southwest and free things in the quantity of 500? Assuming "yes" on all counts, you are more than in luck where the latest URP promotion is involved. URP's marketing guru Jay Millar will be on the "Vinyl Records 3.0 Challenges and Rewards" panel
(11 a.m. Saturday in room 16B of the Austin Convention Center), and to celebrate/tie in, our local wax platter-stamping plant will bring their "Golden Label Contest"
to SXSW. It goes something like this: They'll be giving away 1,000 copies of a 4.75-inch record featuring JEFF the Brotherhood's "Shredder" (from the forthcoming We Are the Champions
LP). After the song there is a message of some sort from the band ... and for one lucky record nerd, that message will be "You win 500 free 7-inch records." Not bad!
While you plot your strategy for snagging the winning disc, here's a JTB song to listen to that isn't called "Shredder" but will be on We Are the Champions:
Team URP will be passing out some of the records at the panel, and others at various times and locations around SXSW. They promise to update their Facebook friends and Twitter followers on their Austin whereabouts, so keep up if you're so inclined.
