As Steve noted in his hyphy liner notes post, I penned a preview on Nashville’s Dead’s Freakin’ Weekend for our dead-tree edition, which also happens to feature a dope little pic of ND reps Ben Todd, Whit Smith and Bekah Cope. Here’s a brief ‘cerpt for your asses:
Slated for March 4, 5 and 6, the Freakin' Weekend — the second installment of what Todd hopes will continue as an annual tradition — will take place at Exit/In, The End, Third Man Records and Springwater, and will feature performances from Nuggets-inspired Puerto Rican rockers Davila 666, fellow garage gurus Jacuzzi Boys and Ty Segall, and local punk-rock outfits JEFF the Brotherhood, Turbo Fruits, PUJOL, Natural Child and Heavy Cream, among others.
I also made note of the pop-up shop Todd & Co. are running over at Local Honey — which will be open today through Saturday, noon-5 p.m. You’ll be able to buy “records and photo prints and posters and stuff” and sip and munch on “sodas and snacks and stuff.” Have a peep after the jump to see the full schedule of Freakin’ Weekend events, plus more promo videos from locals D. Watusi, Heavy Cream and Slammers.
