Quick: Name the last band that headlined The End one year and The Cannery Ballroom the next. I can't think of one, other than Sleigh Bells, who will play the Cannery on Tuesday, May 3. That'll be about 10 months after their electrifying, way, way packed show on Elliston
— a show that was too big for the venue and kind of extra awesome for that reason. (If memory serves, a certain Pizza Bud said that very night that they could have sold out The Cannery.) Brazilian party band CSS will open the show, and if you've been waiting for your chance to see Lovefoxxx sing "kiss me, I'm drunk"
in person (they only came as close as Atlanta on their last U.S. tour), this is it.
As for Sleigh Bells, they are yet to announce a follow-up to last year's Treats, but apparently have been working in the studio with Beyoncé, drinking rum and, presumably, laying down the gnarly riffs and pep-squad vocals. I suppose Alexis Krauss wasn't kidding when she told me, "If the right person comes along, and the right opportunity presents itself, we'll be there."
Tickets, which are $18, go on sale this Friday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. Here's the link.
