Cream Dee Goodz Has 'Bananas,' Little Viking Has 'Mayday' [Fresh Downloads]

On the hip-hop side: Nashville MC Dee Goodz has a new track called "Bananas," and that's pretty meta. Featuring sharp production courtesy of Detroit's ODizzyBeatz — who employs a swooping Dolby THX-ish sample that reminds me a little bit of that "Kids" song, but to much different effect. "Took a shot / Got a swish / Wasn't gettin' no assists." Indeed. Go grab that over at The Smoking Section, and go revisit his College Kids and Dropouts mixtape if you need to. I really want someone to mash this track with Caitlin Rose's "Gorilla Man," but I'm way too much of a sucker for a sight gag turned into a sound gag, if there is such a thing as too much of a sucker for that kind of thing.

On the rock side: Any time a band name-checks Hum, my ears are going to tingle a little bit, and Little Viking did just that, as evinced by the statement "Girls like stars and stuff.” To my ear, they sound more like The Dambuilders, but I'm OK with that. You can decide for yourself, and connect all the Leach-to-Bad-Cop-to-Small-Gods-to-Doctor dots while you're at it, over at Culture Bully.
