Moving Pictures Golden Nugget: A Perfect Circle Trash Metallica and Municipal Auditorium

Getting back into the spirit of my long-neglected Golden Nugget series, here’s a little local-tinged nug’ you might find amusing. Posted a few years back by the nice folks over at Buddyhead, this video captures members of A Perfect Circle and then tour-mates The Icarus Line’s onstage and backstage antics during a 2003 stop at our own Municipal Auditorium. Watch Aaron North (The Icarus Line, Nine Inch Nails) lead smashed pumpkin James Iha, journeyman drummer Josh Freese, APC guitarist Billy Howerdel and the bassist formerly known as Twiggy make it about halfway through a ramshackle rendition of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” before the clip cuts to more amusing footage of the roustabout rockers and their interlopers trashing the NMA dressing room under the watchful eye of local luminary and Jesus Lizard guitarist Duane Denison. This (and poon-tang) is why dudes join rock bands.
