As you may have noticed, this week's dead-tree edition is our annual holiday guide. The lovely cover art was done by Wayne Brezinka ... though I touched up the version over there on the left with some much-needed Gold Faces (TM). The story has all sorts of seasonal gems for your perusing pleasure, including Maloney's fancy foodery, Tracy Moore's eco-friendly tree tips, a conscientious mixtape proposal from Adam Gold, a round-up of charitable jump-offs from Steve Haruch, a Goofy Gus take on homemade giftery from yours truly and much more.

As far as shows are concerned, this weekend is the storm before the calm. Get some good rockin' and rollin' out of your system before that Thanksgiving lull comes 'round the bend. Tonight, you've got Brendan Benson with The Posies, Action! releasing their album on vinyl, We Were the States releasing their record, Grinderman and more. Tomorrow you've got Bobby Bare Jr. & Family at Grimey's, The Long Players doing Darkness, Evan P. Donohue releasing a cassette and loads more. Have a look after the jump to see what's going on — courtesy of music listings editor Adam Gold — and let us know what we missed.
