Since Lilith Fair skipped our fair city on its come-back tour, Bonnaroo may be the last time you fumbled toward ecstasy. Bummed that it missed us? Well, take solace in the fact that festival organizers are planning to make another go of it next year, hopefully following the advice dispensed by Jordan Caress in this Critic's Pick:

Fans were cheated out of a performance from Sarah McLachlan this summer when Nashville’s scheduled Lilith Fair date — along with dozens of others — was canceled due to low ticket sales. Some speculated that there’s simply no need for the female-centric tour, which McLachlan founded over a decade ago, in this age of a supposedly evened playing field. More likely, the once-influential ’90s luminary misfired by targeting those present at the festival’s first incarnation — thirty-, forty- and fiftysomethings that have long since stopped paying 50-plus bucks for a crowded, impersonal arena/outdoor show. While McLachlan’s own music has gone the way of generic, safe adult-contemporary rock, there is still a part of this original Lilith Fair attendee (one of the younger ones, incidentally) that wants to revisit those glory days of “girl power” and freshly kindled dreams. Maybe there is just enough magic in The Ryman.

The Sarah and Friends tour — those friends being Melissa McClelland and Elle Machovite Butterfly Boucher — puts the "mother" in Mother Church tonight, including audience questions segment, at 7:30 p.m.
