Not to be the predictable drummer dude, but you know what my favorite thing about Deerhoof is? Their drummer. Greg Saunier happens to be the sole remaining original member of Deerhoof — who says drummers are flakes? — and he also happens to have a relatively unique style and set-up. I mean, look at that bonkers, giant, remote hi-hat/ride rig! Drummer aside, San Francisco's Deerhoof are known for their ever-expanding catalog, for their well-executed chaotic noise-pop, for Tokyo-transplant and frontwoman Satomi Matsuzaki's unique vocal style, for being on Kill Rock Stars for a decade-and-a-half, and for their tight live performances. (See the other tunes from their Juan's Basement appearance here, here, here and here.)
Deerhoof will return to Nashville Feb. 4 for a performance at Mercy Lounge, where Ben Butler and Mousepad & Nervous Cop will appear in support. Tickets are $12 and go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday right here.
