Bidding Farewell to The Basement's Geoff Donovan

Today I wear a T-shirt bearing the artist’s rendering of Basement co-proprietor and bartender Geoff Donovan you see above. I wear it because tonight is Donovan’s final night behind the club’s bar before packing up and retiring to the mountains of Montana. With this being the pinnacle/penultimate night of Next Big Nashville, I know you have many enticing options regarding where you’re gonna party (and hear music), but do what you can to make it down to Eighth Ave. — where Glossary, Two Cow Garage, Dylan LeBlanc, Andrew Combs and Jonny Corndawg will grace the stage — and raise a glass to this migrating Music City noble. He's a friend to all who haunted his cellar haunt, one hell of an enabling mixologist and an even better dude. A dude I never saw don pants — regardless of weather conditions — in the club's storied five-year history.
