*AutoVaughn's got a new video for "A Million to One," a jaunty little pop ditty which has been stuck in my head for about a week now. It's from their new album, Science of Our Time, which, contrary to what the cover might have you think, is not nearly as spacey as The Cycles. It's more like that moment where late-’80s U.K. dance-rock starts turning into Brit-pop. "Fortress" is my fucking jam. No word on when they're playing in Nashville next, but we did hear a good story about them and comedian Doug Benson ... you can probably figure out where that one goes.
*Remember last week when we mentioned that Glossary's Kelly Kneiser had a new (sorta) solo record coming out soon? Well, that happened yesterday you can downloaded it for free over on Glossary's website. The reason I call it a (sorta) solo record is that three out of the other four Glossary members play on it, plus Shane and Keith from Velcro Stars, and it features songs by Hammertorch's Jason Yeary, Wooden Wand's James Jackson Toth and more. So really, it's a family affair, like smoking angel dust at Sly Stone's house. If there ever were a Murfreesboro super-group, this is it.
*Warthog and Teenage F.B.I. are playing at The 5 Spot on Saturday. And while I'm loathe to keep encouraging this whole tribute band thing, these are two of the best in town. And it's written on the white board next to my computer, which means it's important. Do I need another band playing other people's songs in my life? Probably not. Do I need more bands playing Ramones and Guided by Voices songs in my life? Always. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
*Also, "Gimme Pizza" will blow your freakin' mind.
