Pitchfork-Reviewed Band or iPhone App?

Yo dog, whats a Candy Claws?
  • "Yo dog, what's a Candy Claws?"
I'm not saying someone I know thought Angry Birds was a band, and then was kind of pissed when he/she found out it's a stupid game for the iPhone, but I can say that with the wacky names, and names that don't sound like actual names of things like bands or phone game apps, it can be pretty hard to tell sometimes. So I've concocted a little quiz, mostly for my own amusement, to demonstrate just how bemusing the nomenclature can get.

Some of these are Top-50 iPhone apps, and some of these are Pitchfork-reviewed bands that scored 5.0 or higher. Without doing a Google, can you tell which is which?

1. Subarachnoid Space
2. Keepaway
3. Stealth Tone
4. The Slayers
5. Candy Claws
6. Luxor
7. How to Dress Well
8. Villains
9. Pocket God
10. Walls

Apps: The Slayers, Stealth Tone, Luxor, Villains and Pocket God
Bands: Subarachnoid Space, Candy Claws, How to Dress Well, Walls and Keepaway

How'd you do? And what does your score say about you?

1-3 correct: You are not particularly knowledgeable about Pitchfork-approved bands or time-sucking iPhone apps, which is probably a good thing. But you could have just guessed blindly and done better.

4-6 correct: See?

7-9 correct: Either you're a really lucky guesser, have pretentious taste in music and smart phones or are just good at gaming tests. At least one of those is actually useful in life.

10 correct: That's some weird expertise. Congratulations?
