As
D.P.R. told you last week, I was M.I.A. in Cream H.Q. as of late because I was holed up slaving away on
this week's Scene cover story: a primer on Mayor Karl Dean's Nashville Music Council. You may recall some
confusion and questions that came up last month in regards to the Council's first-year accomplishments.
Read the story here. In a nutshell, the Council is an advisory board to the Mayor that has a lot of enthusiasm and some great ideas, but they're still at the point of determining their goals and what they're capable of on a budget of nothing. It will be some time before we can truly assess the success of the Council, but until then I'd urge all to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Even if the story itself doesn't float your boat, you've gotta admit, it has some of the most badass cover art in Scene history. Props to Scene art director Elizabeth Jones and in-house photographer Eric England for recreating my favorite album cover of all-time. And thanks to resident Southcomm bow-tie-wearing emo apologist and two-time Jeopardy victor J.R. Lind, for nailing the Paul Simonon pose.
