It's a Crowded House-y, Deer Tick-y Monday

Maybe you saw Deer Tick last night, or maybe you missed Deer Tick last night so you could watch Shark Week, or whatever. Either way, you can catch Deer Tick as guest DJs on Out the Other tonight on WRVU, 91.1-FM. (By the way, frequent Scene photog Steve Cross didn't watch Shark Week last night because some jerk stole his television. If you see it, call the proper authorities. It's, um, rectangular and TV-like in appearance.)

Also tonight: the don't-say-they're-a-New-Zealand-band-they're-a-Melbourne-band pop stylings of Crowded House, who set up shop at The Ryman. (Congrats to our winners, caption-wise and Facebook-wise.) And remember, Nashville, bassist Nick Seymour reminds us there's hope for us yet: "I genuinely believe that real innovation in the arts often comes from an out-of-the-way place. If you're isolated in a provincial city, you're less likely to get caught up in the latest trend, and you're more likely to strike out on an idiosyncratic path. There's a disconnection between the industry and the art that can be good for the art."

You know the jam on the other side of this here jump.

Now that's what I call chorused guitar!
