Louisville, Ky., is home to some clever SOBs. That at least seems to ring true in the case of those naming their new multipurpose sports arena. Leave it to the Yankees of the South to come up with a name more American than Freedom Hall and settle on the moniker — I’m not kidding — KFC Yum! Center. So, Nashville, next time you find yourself uttering the words "bridge," "stone" and "arena" in a contiguous sequence, let ‘em roll off the tongue with a feeling of pride and superiority. Cherish the dignity the naming rights our dome de enormo bring us.

The 22,000-capacity Louisville arena — which looks like a gigantic fax machine fashioned from a gigantic cinderblock — will open its doors this fall, when it plays host to an Eagles concert. (Our condolences, Louisville.) It was announced today that Louisville favorites My Morning Jacket — who held an arena-sized soiree at our own Municipal Auditorium back in April — will follow The Dude’s least favorite band when they headline a pre-Halloween concert at the KFC Yum! Center on Oct. 29. The band will tap fellow Louisvillian rock-ensemble Wax Fang and Louisville Youth Orchestra — a non-profit to whom MMJ will donate $1 from every ticket sold — to open.

Is it a fax macine? Is it a Double Down? Is it a sports arena?

Some 22,000 tickets is a lot for a band to try and sell. If you love three-hour road trips through the rolling hills of Kentucky, would like to do your part in helping the band achieve a sellout, or simply want to make the dream of seeing My Morning Jacket in a venue that has the KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut fast-food triptych available at seven different concession stands, then click here to purchase tickets. They go on sale Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. Don’t forget, Louisville is in the Eastern time zone, so 10 a.m. means 9 a.m. to you. I’ve watched too many friends get stuck in the nosebleeds due to this simple oversight. Don’t be a victim.
