Question: What has four legs, two pigtails, one cape, a whole lot of “very powerful lasers” and comes to Nashville about twice a year? Need another hint? They sell out a 1,100-capacity venue every time they’re here. Seriously? All right. If you don’t know by now, you’re clearly just not even trying.
According to the release, “Ghostland Observatory will be returning to the Cannery Ballroom this fall in support of their new album, Robotique Majestique
.” New album. The one that was released in February of 2008. The one I did a feature
on when Ghostland Observatory played here in November of 2008. G.O. will be appearing Sept. 16; tickets are $22 in advance and available here
I have to tip my hat to these dudes. They’ve figured out the touring game about as well as anyone can. They know their audience. They invested in an insane light show that’s probably paid for itself several times over by now. They have three records (they’re working on a fourth), and thus enough material under their belts for a long set. They keep those production costs low and ticket prices high, and they hit cities just seldomly enough to have their fans come out each time. BOOM. That's how a band makes the cashola. Maybe we should all be taking notes. Or drugs. Let's all take drugs, and then some notes. Notes about the lasers.
