And pretty much the worst-case scenario is what happened to Phosphorescent the other day when their rental van, and all $40,000 worth of gear inside it, was stolen in Brooklyn after the first show of their six-week tour. (They've set up a PayPal donation site for folks to help out.) The reason I mention this is that a band without equipment might have a hard time playing a show, and Phosphorescent are slated to play Exit/In this Thursday, July 15. The folks who booked the show have assured me that the band found some gear to use, and their Nashville appearance is "100% on." Caitlin Rose and Doug Paisley open. Keep your eye out for Grayson Currin's take on Phosphorescent's latest, Here's to Taking It Easy, in this week's paper — and delight in the song title, "It's Hard to Be Humble (When You're From Alabama)." Tickets are $14.50, after the service charge, and available here.
Update: Police found the van, with all the band's gear in it! Click through to BV just for the photo.
