Big day for JEFF the Brotherhood news, people. But hey, if awesome local rock bands aren't your thing, feel free to go complain about someone named Adam or something.

1. The Brotherhood from another planet has a new split 7-inch with Ty Segall out, which you can buy at Grimey's if they still have any left. You can also listen to the JTB side thanks to the EXCLUSIVE website portal page of Spin magazine, who are streaming it exclusively to you, exclusively. Check it out. It's quiet for a while and then it's not so quiet, and gets even less quiet at the end. Jake tells Spin that the song is about "mind control and spirituality." Not necessarily in that order, I'd say. [Spin]

2. In their latest cover story, the Boston Phoenix has named their "Best New Bands in America," including one for every state. (Yes, there's a band from Alaska, and they have a song called "Real Nerds Die Alone"!) The Brotherhood have put our own state of Tennessee on this particular rock map: "Equally adept with squalling feedback and soaring melody, the Orralls infuse their bracingly energetic rock with handclaps and woo-hoos that manage to elevate their rock-and-roll noise to unexpected heights of immediacy." That's great! And the East Coast Media Elite manage to get through the whole thing without ... without ... ah, fuck, here it is: "Although they hail from Nashville, they don't sound country." Anyway. [Boston Phoenix]

3. If you've ever been a twentysomething dude on the road with a band and a bunch of other twentysomething dudes playing rock shows and eating lots of gas-station grub — or if you've never been or done any of those things, yet are oddly compelled by the power of rock and processed gluten and meat by-products — then you'll identify with the new "Snack Attack" video presented by the friendly, reasonable people over at Nashville's Dead. Lay eyes upon it, and some tour dates — Shonen Knife! Japandroids! Lightning Bolt! — right here:
