The National to Play the Ryman, Oct. 3

Posted by D. Patrick Rodgers on Thu, Jun 3, 2010 at 9:30 AM

Yes, Gold mentioned this in his announcement about The Arcade Fire coming in August. But The National's latest, High Violet, is just so damn good that I felt they deserved their own post. I tried High Violet on for size over at A Record a Day last month, and I ended up using words like "sturdy," "evocative," "artful," "abstract," "brooding," "dark," "thoughtful," "tasteful," "baritone" and "favorite." If that tells you anything.

No official word on the Ryman's site yet, but The National's corner of the Net sez they'll be playing Oct. 3 with Owen Pallett. Keep an eye on this post for ticket updates. Oh, and if you're a National fan and would like to read a fine piece of modern music journalism, check out Nicholas Dawidoff's New York Times story on High Violet from a few weeks back.
