So Steve's out for a few days on vacation, but that doesn't mean he can't blog from beyond the grave! Everybody Was in the French Resistance ... Now! — featuring Eddie Argos of Art Brut — are playing tonight at Exit/In. Steve's got some words on that:

With hangdog charm and a wry everyman persona, EWITFR … N! singer Eddie Argos sounds like a cross between a stand-up comedian with a heart of gold and a punch-drunk James Murphy fronting a ’60s girl group. Few people could pull off the deadpan glibness on the one hand — having a British accent certainly helps — and heartfelt emotion on the other that Argos, also of Art Brut, does in his latest endeavor. Imagining himself as Jimmy Mack from Martha and the Vandellas’ classic, Argos sings: “Did you do this to make me jealous? / Singing songs about other fellas?” His partner in crime, Dyan Valdes, proves to be a perfect foil, lending atmosphere and charm with her smoky vocal harmonies.

Also going on tonight is the NRDC Music Saves Mountains Benefit at the Ryman featuring Alison Krauss, Big Kenny, Emmylou Harris and more.
