National Skyline Miley Cyrus Dirty Dancing: Blame Somebody!

Kids these days: Not only do they listen to music Andy Rooney's never heard of, but they engage in the dirty dancing with older gay men while they're listening to it! And then a video hits the Internets and we all blame Miley's parents — it takes a village of blog commenters, after all — and TMZ calls up her dad, who says she was just "having fun." Which, it would seem, she was.

I am not in the habit of defending Miley Cyrus, because I'm not in the habit of caring what she does or doesn't do, but considering all the 16-year-olds giving birth to children they can't really take care of every day, it strikes me as more of a problem that we're acting outraged — outraged, I tell you! — at a mildly titillating video on the Internet when girls are being told they shouldn't get vaccinated against HPV because that will basically make them sluts. And I know everyone would be just as red-faced and foamy-mouthed if this was a 16-year-old boy grinding on a middle-aged lesbian, right? Of course not.
