Hotpipes Reuniting for Candice Burnside’s Breast Cancer Benefit at Exit/In, May 29

Posted By on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 1:50 PM

Longtime frequenters of Grimey’s — and friends of that rowdy nogoodnik Jeremy “Battle Tapes” Ferguson — have probably heard the name Candice Burnside before. She worked at Grimey’s for over three years, and you’re liable to have seen her out and about with her aforementioned nogoodnik paramour if you’re a showgoer. It saddens us to say that Candice was diagnosed with breast cancer back in February, and she’s been undergoing treatment ever since. But it warms our hearts to inform you that a tremendous bill has been organized for a benefit in Candice’s honor. On May 29 at Exit/In, fantastic foursome The Features, wonder woman Cortney Tidwell, and thought-to-be-defunct-but-totally-appearing-on-this-awesome-bill heroes Hotpipes will all be cranking out mad jams. There will also be some DJs. From the fine folks at Grimey’s:

100% of your donation at this show will benefit Candice in her time of need, but more importantly we have the opportunity to come together to spread breast cancer awareness and celebrate Candice's strength and ability to totally kick cancer's ass … Doors will open at 8 p.m., the show is 18+, and admission is a suggested $15 donation.

We'll also have a RAFFLE for a prize pack of gift certificates for awesome businesses around town, and a BAKE SALE so you can buy something sweet to snack on at the show or take home at the end of the night.

If you want to pitch in on that bake sale — and please do, because I plan on eating ALL of the brownies — email WRVU DJ, blogger and friend of the scene/Scene Janet Timmons at outtheother [at] Brownies! Cortney Tidwell! The Features! Hotpipes reunion! Good causes! Here's the Facebook event page if you want to get your confirmation on.
