As the old cliché goes, sometimes the worst brings out the best in people. That’s definitely ringing true for our music community in the wake of that wack-ass flood that got all up in Middle Tennessee’s shit last week. Since locals both affected and unaffected by the disaster have grasped the gravity of the situation, it seems like one out of every four or five shows has turned into a flood-relief benefit, which has resulted in something unfamiliar to the regular club patrons and players among us: People are actually paying to go to shows now. Of course, they’re really paying to help the cause, but it doesn’t hurt to have a soundtrack to your good deeds, right?

As you may recall, the Mercy Lounge raised over $11K at a quickly assembled benefit last week, proving that — despite all the arm-folding that goes on at most shows throughout the year, and despite the competitive passive-aggressive inside-baseball bullshit, and despite all the shit-talking and saber-rattling that goes down in the Cream comments — when put to the test, Nashville music fans actually aren’t assholes. Yay for us!

Turns out Nashville’s country music elite aren’t assholes either. In what is sure to prevail as the largest local benefit show to help heal Middle-Tennessee, some of pop-country and country-pop’s biggest names will all coalesce under the tilted spaceship of a roof that caps the Bridgestone Arena on June 22.

Headed up by Music Row's favorite power couple, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Nashville Rising will benefit the Community Foundation, and will feature appearances from Brooks & Dunn, Miley Cyrus, Amy Grant, LeAnn Rimes, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Michael W. Smith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Martina McBride and more. Titans head coach Jeff Fisher and Preds head coach Barry Trotz will be on hand as well.

That’s a lot fuckin’ star power if you ask me. So, if you like to bump 95.5 The Wolf on regular rotaish, if you owe a mom in your life a belated Mother’s Day present, or if you’ve just been dying for an excuse to go see Miley Cyrus live and not feel guilty about it, then this star-studded shindig is sure to be your jam.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. They range from $25-$75, and can be purchased here. For more event info, check out the official Nashville Rising site. Click here to donate to The Community Foundation.

From the sky, the Bridgestone Arena roof is supposed to look like a saddle. Which is stupid.

That's not even original: the Flames play at the SaddleDome in Calgary. They have the biggest rodeo in the world there. All we have is Discount Western Wear. I always thought it looked like the Mothership.

Is it shaped like a saddle in the hopes that some giant space ass will come down and sit on it someday?

This flood was a disaster, only God knows why the great Flood of 2010 hit Nashville. Wipe your mouths and if you knees will bend get down on them and ask God to forgive all of you that have used the F------- word. My, how sad, when something like this flood happens and we have people that talk like that, be thankful your and yours are alive and well. Nashville is full of good country singers. Let them all stop and think for just a moment where their talent came from. They are rich and some are very giving. I am a singer, but not country, I used my talent to sing for my Lord and Saviour for 25 years and wish I could sing another, but a stroke happened to my brother and 26 months later death happened to him. Be thankful and stop using language that is not very nice. Another brother filled in for my brother that had the stroke, but eventually in 2006 ,July 15 was the last day our group sang. Be thankful for your talent because you can lose it in an instant. I completely lost my voice in my singing register in 2007 and I am just now beginning to get it back and it is still not where is was. I went to The Vanderbilt Voice Center for almost a year and half. I practically had to learn to talk again and then get back to singing. Please clean up your mouths. you never know who might be watching and one thing for sure God is.
