Creamtastic / Cream Calendar Kurtis Blow Tonight at Big T's

Capping off one of the strongest weeks of rap shows in recent memory is an appearance from the original major-label hip-hop mogul: the man, the myth, the legend, Kurtis Blow! That might not seem so awkward if it was at a more established venue than the sports bar around the corner from our brother-in-law’s house, but whatevs. We know where we’re pre-gaming. Blow’s claim to fame is that he was the first rapper with a major-label deal, but his lasting impact stems from the fact that everybody and their mom has sampled, referenced and reworked his works almost from the minute they dropped — if we had a dollar for every mixtape that jacked “The Breaks” and “If I Ruled The World,” or a dollar for every “hipster” that has copped his fashion sense, we’d have a whole lotta dollars. But those are the proverbial breaks.
