Before too long, we saw several water spouts forming in the mist — three of 'em — and then suddenly one broke away from whatever had held it there, and began swirling toward the shoreline and us. We watched its approach with something like glee and laughed hysterically as the visibly turbulent air smacked spectre-like into the white house behind us, tearing off a section of the rain gutter from the edge of the roofing. ... I woke up laughin'.
Cleveland's The Styrenes formed in 1975, and that means they'd been around the punk rock block before punk rock was a block. (The block has a Starbucks and a Hot Topic on it now.) They're playing at Betty's Bar & Grill tonight, and if you like music that's made from dreams and sorrow and guitars and stuff, you should probably check it out. 9 p.m.
