As confirmed by this post on the Nonesuch Records official site, Emmylou Harris is indeed set to appear at East Nashville’s The Groove record store, where she'll join the ranks of contemporary Nashville D.I.Y. troubadours the likes of Tristen, Hans Condor, Tallest Trees and leading Infinity Cat first name/last name Daniel Pujol.
Worlds will collide when — during the Alcohol Stuntband’s set — event MC Chris Crofton initiates the world renowned trad-country chanteuse into the fold of Five Points arms-folders by name-dropping her in the ad-lib section of “Dickerson Pike” and convincing her to reprise her vocal contributions to Bob Dylan’s “One More Cup of Coffee” by joining him in a duet. Not to be missed!
In other Record Store Day news, the fairer-haired half of The Raconteurs — Brendan Benson and Patrick Keeler — will partially interrupt the band’s unofficial hiatus when they appear as The Racontwoers at Jack White’s Third Man Records to celebrate the re-release of the band’s 2006 debut Broken Boy Soldiers. Third Man will furnish shoppers with BBQ and popsicles, as well as auction off Jack White’s Go Kart from the “Steady as She Goes” video, to benefit the Nashville Homeless Mission. This according to Spinner.
Of course, Grimey’s will dominate 8th Ave. with their annual parking lot sale and cavalcade of rock, which this year will feature performers such as American Bang, an Eef Barzelay fronted Clem Snide cover band, Bows & Arrows, The Coolin’ System and more.
So, Saturday is the day to finally pick up that extended mix N.W.A 12-inch you said you’d never pay more than a dollar for. Get ready break open that piggy bank, y’all.
