Sad news to report today, as we have learned that Chip Chilton, singer and guitarist for the '80s Nashville power-pop band Chip and the Chiltons, passed away last Friday, Feb. 19. Our thoughts go out to family and friends. The Chip and the Chiltons Facebook page has been converted to an online memorial, and there you can also find a link to download the band's cassette Where's My Cat. We are told there will probably be a memorial service of some sort, though we don't have any details at the moment.

I'm still a bit stunned by this news. Chip will be missed.

Wow - this is very sad. I was talking to my brother the other day about who we would like to see perform again and Chip & The Chiltons were high on our list. I saw Chip many many times in the 80's and he was a great performer. Very entertaining as was the whole band. Good Luck Chip and rock em out up there.

Chip was a ROCKER! Awesome guitarist and great song writer. You will be missed. Three Feet Off The Floor has always been one f my favorite songs. Rest in Peace, Chip.

Chip taught me everything about guitar. Most importantly how to be a good guy off stage and a snotty punk onstage. Always leave 'em wanting more. Chippy is a gentleman and a guitar scholar. Big old part of me is empty.
Prayers for the family. I miss one of the best friends I ever had

Here's to power chords, duct tape, and keeping the bass drum on the "1 & 3"....Elliston Place...and those long-ass recording sessions at my house. We put down some creative shit, didn't we. Sorry I didn't keep up with you over the years. You know, I was always too damn much in a hurry to "grow up." But you were right: I did end up pushing a pencil. RIP.
