  • "How do ya like me now?"
• Local arbiters of robot-parade rock Heypenny have had their video for "CopCar" accepted into South By Southwest's film conference. It's one of just 20 music videos selected for the short film list, and they're in the company of Grizzly Bear and Passion Pit, among others. Congrats, H.P. Marchingbandcraft. • Infinity Cat tells us that Rough Trade is now taking pre-orders for JEFF the Brotherhood's "U Got the Look / The Tropics" single. There are only about 500 copies in all, 50 of which will be sold by JtB at shows. So if you're a fan/completist, better jump on that pre-order now. • Local folk outfit Flora Shakespeare have just put their latest EP, In the Western Tradition, up on their Bandcamp site, and you can download it for free. If you like wistful, ramshackle folk jams, you just might dig it. • The Walkmen have just signed to Mississippi-based label Fat Possum, meaning they'll now be labelmates with Dinosaur Jr., A.A. Bondy, Al Green and locals Turbo Fruits. When I spoke with The Walkmen's Walter Martin back in September, it looked like they were on track to be done with their next record by now. How long must we wait, Walkmen?! • Local metal band 3 Minutes to Live are offering all the proceeds generated by sales of their single "Stolen"directly to the Tennessee chapter of the Not for Sale Campaign, an organization formed to fight human trafficking and sex trade. I'm not the man to talk to about the merits of a given metal band, but I know a good cause when I read one. Even if you don't want the single, you can still donate. Check it out. • Also, John Mayer's sorry for saying that word that all white people, by now, should know better than to say. Especially when someone's writing down what you're saying. For Playboy, no less. To be fair, his apology seems sincere. Also to be fair, fool still shouldn't have said that. See him tonight at Sommet!

I like that no one in the UK knows who the fuck they are, but they put nine people on the cover for a two person band. classic.

Hard to make out with such a small picture, but best I can tell, Daniel Pujol (MEEMAW, Pujol), Wes Traylor (MEEMAW, Natural Child, fmr. Turbo Fruits) and at least one of the Heavy Cream ladies are in there.

Looks like John Mayer needs to take a trip down to the Race Corner™.

Grats to Jeff and Heypenny! I was going to say that Heypenny makes good videos (which they do); but then I remembered the "Bone Jam" video Jeff did--and that was cool too. Good stuff all around! Cheers, Brothers!

dude, what white person, in any context, in any forum, does not think they are going to get (deservedly) skewered for using that word? i mean, i'm all for horrible decisions giving me a laugh or moving along a movie plot, but dude...
