A new year means a new batch of local music, and a new cycle of ups and outs, collaborations and exeunts, daring pairings and hot new heat. To celebrate what's on the way, we dedicated this week's Scene cover story to taking a look at 10 artists to watch in 2010.

Leading the Nashville charge we've got guitar wunderkind and American Bang-jangler Tyler Bryant, No. 1 hit songwriter and Brendan Benson collaborator Ashley Monroe, indie king/fever queen duo Kurt Wagner and Cortney Tidwell, managing shreditor Daniel Lucca Pujol, wooden wand-wielding power country auteur James Jackson Toth, heartbreakingly funky Ya Za, aggressive poet-blues outfit Silver Lions 20/20, Voltron-esque De Novo Dahl, freewheeling experimental cult Forrest Bride and the drippingly funny Diarrhea Planet. Check it.

And while you're at it, check out the slinky slideshow with all the photos that you want, that you want want.

I really love Ya Za now! I think she's the next star to make Nashville proud as are the other 9! I googled Ya Za and found her indie label in Nashville (Per Capita Records) and was amazed at what those cats are up to. some very cool stuff. Makes me smile to live in Nashville again ;)
