Are you ready to find out who's playing Bonnaroo 2010? We won't know for a few weeks. But for those of you making your chair all hot thinking about it, check out this entry from the Department of Wild Speculation, which attempts to predict which artists will (and will not) play Manchester in 2010 by sifting through Internet rumors, message board chatter, tea leaves, the distribution of Paul Blart: Mall Cop on Netflix queues and The Farmer's Almanac. I'm not the kind to burn too many calories thinking about who's going to play what festival, so I am occasionally amused by the energy that some people devote to it. Would it be extra awesome plus 111111ONE to see Prince at Bonnaroo? Sure. Let me know when that's confirmed. In the meantime, I don't need a list of bands that exist and could conceivably play Bonnaroo based on the fact that they are confirmed to be bands and would be able to play a festival in June, conceivably Bonnaroo, based on the fact that bands have played Bonnaroo in the past.
Then again, will Kings of Leon vs. Neil Young be this year's Beastie Boys vs. David Byrne? It does tickle the future-brain a smidge to think about. Bonnaroo runs June 10-13, 2010, and there will definitely be pants on the ground.
Here's an excerpt:

The list of bands who might play the Budweiser Troo Music Tent will be narrowed down tonight! We're gonna announce the 32 finalists for the 2010 Road to Bonnaroo series at 8 off 8th.
Yep, 32. We're sending four Nashville bands to Machester this year. We're also announcing the four dates of the RTB2010 tonight.
There are like five cartoon bands on that list, not counting Gorillaz.
I would place serious money on Kings of Leon being a headliner.
is there a reason they didnt mention The Strokes? it seems like they're getting back together in time to do the festival circuit, so bonnaroo doesnt seem entirely out of the question, right?
Jay-Z (Friday)
The Who (Saturday)
Further (Sunday)
write it fucking down, you fucking noobs.
I heard Goose Creek Symphony was gonna be there this year.
Give me Pavement, or give me death! Last time I checked they didn't have any dates in June. At all.
If Waters plays, I'm going.
ps. Who are 'Further'?
