Cream Calendar King Kong Tonight at Betty's [Featuring Members of Slint]

Hey hey, party people, King Kong is in town and looking to boogie down for you at Betty's Bar and Grill over there on the Charlotte Ave. You may not know about King Kong or have any of their records (Buncha Beans came out on Drag City in 2007), but they're from Louisville and here's a name you might recognize: Ethan Buckler. He was the original bass player in a little band called Slint. But don't worry! None of that spooky think-rock here. Just funky bass and atmospherics and deadpan vocals. Willy T calls them "a party band somewhere between ESG, Half Japanese, and Booker T and the MGs," and that's probably about right. Betty's is at 407 49th Ave. North.
