Judging by some of the comments in last week's Moon Taxi vs. Lava Lamp vs. 12th & Porter post, club proprietor Justin Roddick is a divisive character in our local rock scene--divisive enough for radio, apparently. Love or hate him, his club is at the epicenter of Nashville's "active rock" scene. Such being the case, I suppose it makes sense for him to get his own show on the station for everything that rocks: 102.9 the Buzz.
Starting Dec. 27, that's exactly what will happen when the station gives Roddick a weekly show--titled 102.9 The Local Buzz Live at 12th & Porter--that, according to him, will feature "guest hosts such as music business executives and artists from Nashville...[in a] mix of talk, studio recordings and live performances from 12th & Porter recorded in front of a live audience." The kick-off episode will include special guests American Bang. Since we established last week that lava lamps don't rock, we can assume there aren't any languishing around the Buzz studio, so the only liability to worry about in this capacity is of the FCC variety. So Justin, don't forget, the seven words you absolutely CANNOT utter on the airwaves are "shit," "piss," "fuck," "cunt," "cocksucker," "motherfucker" and "tits." Good luck!
