As debatably the first casualty of The Great WRVU Radio Debacle of '09, The Best of Bread found itself homeless just weeks ago. Hosts Chris and Greg Crofton--despite claims that at least Chris is technologically inept--are relatively resourceful gentlemen (I use the word loosely), and now they've found themselves a new broadpodcasting platform. Joe Baine Colvert and the other folks over at Lake Fever Productions (the same fellas responsible for bringing us those ever-popular Lake Fever Sessions) have decided to take on the production aspects of the show formerly known as The Best of Bread. In the coming weeks, newly monikered The Chris Crofton Show will come to you here at the Cream. Barring unforeseen circumstances, you can find it right here every Friday.

Now, before we bring you the goodness, we must relay a message that we have been instructed to present by our legal department (a.k.a. our janitor, who's been taking some law classes at his night shool). Disclaimer: In the inaugural episode of The Chris Crofton Show, hosts Chris and Greg relay their opinions regarding why and how they were removed from WRVU. All opinions presented by the Croftons are theirs and theirs alone, and in no way reflect the position of either Nashville Cream or the Nashville Scene. We'd also like to mention that we have redacted a three-minute portion of the episode, which is split into five segments for easier uploadery. Know this: We are not censors and do not plan on cutting any portion of any episode of The Chris Crofton Show in the future. The very brief portion of the episode removed by the Cream was omitted because it tread in some dangerous waters regarding claims (as jovial as they may have been) about individuals performing certain acts.... Let's just say we're not looking to get sued.

Below you'll find, in five parts, the inaugural episode of The Chris Crofton Show, presented by Lake Fever Productions and hosted by Nashville Cream.

It's no "I Like to Butter My Corn in a Tight Place," but I personally like "Peanut Butter and Jelly Means Sex."

I'm gonna pour milk in your catcher's mitt.
Oh, a WRVU DJ needs to play this show on their show. At least parts 3 and 4.
The bit about Nashville Jumps...

Nashville Jumps is one of the greatest radio shows on the air anywhere, and Pete Wilson is a Nashville treasure. A 24-hour lineup of all-Pete-all-the-time would be awesome, since the guy's record collection spans the entire century (yes, even post-Beatles--I've seen the evidence).
That said, I still plan to call and request "Peanut Butter and Jelly Means Sex." Maybe Pete'll give Best of Bread a special dedication of "Your Mind Is On Vacation (But Your Mouth Is Working Overtime)."

Hey, Chris and Greg, it was funny, and I've been inspired to do an all-food-double-entendre show sometime just for you! But I'm sorry that the comment I added to that earlier Nashville Cream post, about Nashville Jumps not being a community DJ show, came off obnoxious. I intended it just as clarification--I'm a librarian and I think it makes you a stickler for detail--but it wasn't really necessary, and later that same day it did occur to me that it might have come off smug, maybe even gloating. That wasn't at all what I meant. I decided a follow-up post would just compound the problem, but maybe I should have written one. If any other community DJs past or present found it obnoxious, I apologize to them too. I hope the restrictions on community participation become more reasonable, but I'd rather things were the way they were before--including Best of Bread being on the air.
