I stopped watching the second they put Daughtry onstage. I guess the continued success of Taylor Swift has probably alienated some of the core male pop-country audience, what with her wispy ballads and her friend Abigail and her (a little too virginal) femaleness, and the industry is thinking they need to get some shave-y argh-rock in the mainstream mix before The Real America's collective TruckNutz fall off. But seriously. Ew.
Also, Dear Twitter users: We cool and all, but "Entertainer" is one word, not two.

I caught the very end of it and I have to point out--Barbara Mandrell and George Jones are the first (or some of the earliest) hipsters. They were totes country before it was cool... just saying.
You betcha. Taylor deserved that Entertainer of the Year, but surprised female vocalist wasn't handed to Carrie Underwood. Fingers crossed You Tell Concerts ran some video on those down at the Sommet Center. Show business. Serious show business.
I don't believe i heard one country song all night.
I think the closest thing to a country song was preformed by kid rock of all people.
the rest is crap, pure crap they are trying to shove down our throats.
where's the country ??? !!!
even the die hard country singers sang poppy songs, crap. !!
give me a good country song with short simple phrases, great harmony and some killer pickin.
a lot of these pop singer are here in country cuz they have no place else to go,
well it aint country in by book, and i aint 15 !! so what's out there for guy's like me !
thank god for brad paisley.
but even he's loosing his country to the pop crap. come on brad don't fail me !
in the words of the immortal Merle Haggard "it's just bad rock-n-roll" !
i agree Merle !
" before The Real America's collective TruckNutz fall off" = hilarious
I watched the CMA, mainly because I don't have the sweet hookup for tickets, nor did I want to shell out $300 for uncomfortable (and bad) seats.
I felt the stage show was lacking, wasn't digging the big rectangle box that everyone used for the background. It didn't come across well on TV.
The highlight of the night, other than Carrie Underwood's shorts, was Darius Rucker, he sounded as good if not better than all the other performers. Glad he won.
Too virginal? Isn't she 19?

I believe Taylor Swift needs to fire up the auto-tune. Please.
Loved Martina mcBride and George Strait paying tribute to Barbara Mandrell.
There is a huge difference between a singer and an entertainer. I thought the tribute to Barbara Mandrell was very cool. She was doing production shows, lights, costumes and all of that before anyone. Martina and George were superb.
Love the tribute to Barbara Mandrell. She deserved it. I do wish the CMA had chosen to also honor the other two new Hall of Fame members as well. Glad Barbara had a chance to say a few words.
But the CMA Awards..what awards. It was song after song after song. These awards used to be one and one half hours and they got in a lot more awards than they now do in hours.
And, it is a chore for people like me to sit thru a bunch of rock songs on a country show. But, one does it if a favorite happens to be at that particular show.
