So as you can see, given my brand-new mask and Bruce shirt, I'll be going as Gold for Halloween. See if you can spot me. I'll be the guy that looks like Gold but isn't Gold. Obviously plenty of options this weekend. Here's tonight:

Hallo-Cream Party at Mercy Lounge feat. Matt Friction and the Cheap Shots, Chris Crofton, Tallest Trees & The Zut Alors. That alcoholic whip cream shit wasn't a joke. Say the secret word and I'll buy you a shot with some of that on top.

Heartbeater EP Release at The 5 Spot feat. Powerbrrrd & Bad Cop.

Jandek w/Lone Official & The Mattoid at The Basement.

Herman Dune w/Wye Oak, Julie Doiron & Caitlin Rose at The End.

Berlin Techno Night at Mambu.

Stryper at the Wildhorse. Ew.

Roger Daltrey at the Ryman. Or, more accurately, Roger Daltrey performs the songs of Pete Townshend and others at the Ryman.

Annual Movement Nashville Halloween Bash feat. AutoVaughn, Heypenny & Modoc at Exit/In. That's what's on our radar, but you can see the rest here. Back tomorrow with more spooky listings for your asses.

Patrick, if this you-as-Gold thing is actually happening, then I command you to at least stop by the 5 Spot so I can see this shit.

Natural Child 7" release at Glenn Danzig's. Awesome show with awesome bands at Little Hamilton.

Is it really a Daltrey burn? I mean, the dude is playing songs by various artists, which he obviously didn't write, plus songs by The Who, which he also didn't write. Doesn't make him not technically a legend or anything.
And as far as Stryper...ah never mind. It's Stryper.

It's kind of a burn; not a Stryper-level burn, but a burn nonetheless.

You know, I'd sooner pay $60 to see Roger Daltrey sing Who karaoke at the Ryman than to pay quadruple that to see The-Touring-Outfit-Which-Contains-Glassy-Eyed-Ringers-in-the-Stead-of-Keith-Moon-&-John-Entwhistle-That-Is-Calling-Itself-The-Who at some hockey arena.
But if you want all the authenticity you can handle, there is always Corwood Industries' own Jandek (which I would go to if it was anywhere as remotely compelling).

On Corwood Industries:
Never thought i'd see Adam Gold share the stage with Dylan Simon, well done sirs! Shades of Moe Tuckerisms and John Cale meeting Tim Buckley at 3am. As i was nodding along some guy was like, "Hey dude don't take it so seriously" and then patted me on the shoulder with a smug sense of knowing. To which i replied with a shrug of wtf? meh.
