I know that times is tough, but sometimes it can be cool to cut back on the booze and pizza and throw your money to a good cause. The nonprofit outfit YEAH (Youth Empowerment Through Arts & Humanities), which works with Southern Girls Rock 'n' Roll Camp, is moving to a new facility in Murfreesboro and they need your tax-deductible donation dollars please.
This multi-purpose space won't just be for the ladies, though. It will be "a music venue for all ages shows featuring local high school musicians, a screen-printing shop, recording studio, media lab, library, and lounge for teens who are interested in the arts." That's exhausting! And expensive! This is one of the few unashamedly good things Middle Tennessee has to offer, and the kids cannot keep rocking without our help. Don't you want the kids to rock?
Full letter and details from the SGRRC director after the jump!
Dear Friend--As many of you know, I have had the great privilege of directing the Southern Girls Rock & Roll Camp (SGRRC) for the past two year. SGRRC is a program of YEAH (Youth Empowerment Through Arts & Humanities. YEAH is a charitable, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization that provides a safe and supportive environment for young people that fosters creativity, stronger individuals, and a stronger community. We are about to move into a building on Murfreesboro's Court Square and expand our services to offer year round programming in all the arts--filmmaking, journalism, theatre, choir, movement arts, visual arts--the works.
The new home for YEAH is a 6,000 sq ft building that houses a music venue for all ages shows featuring local high school musicians, a screenprinting shop, recording studio, media lab, library, and lounge for teens who are interested in the arts. We will offer classes and workshops in the arts, while fostering a creative connected community for Murfreesboro's youth ages 10-17. We believe that young people can be empowered through the arts to become productive and creative community leaders.
We're working toward securing at least $8,000 in start up capital by the opening date which may be within the next week or so, and I'm writing to ask for your help in accomplishing this. Donors of $100 or more will be designated as Founders of YEAH, and you will be recognized on three different levels:
• A donation of $1000 or more receives a platinum record with your name on it for our wall, and designation as a "Platinum" donor on our website and printed materials.
• A donation of at least $500 receives a gold record on our wall and designation as a "Gold" donor.
• For a donation of $100, your name or business will be printed on a 45" record for our wall and designated as a "Chart Topping" donor.
Please consider making a donation for this worthy cause. We're a non profit organization, so your gift is tax deductible, and we will send you a formal thank you and receipt for your taxes. There's more info at our new website, www.yeahintheboro.org and the "founder's letter" is attached. Please send this letter to anyone who might be interested in helping support the organization by helping us open the doors and kick things off with a bang!
You can make a PayPal donation on the website or make a pledge by emailing me back with your commitment. I'll be glad to send you all the details you need.
Thank you in advance for your support of our community's youth and the arts!
