Showing 1-8 of 8
Sorry this is on the wrong thread, but I'm about to be computer-less and I wanted people to know about this show.
Tonight 10/16 at Betty's
TV Ghost (In the Red records)
Frosti (Nashville group feat. current/ex members of From Ashes Rise, Ladycop, Taiwan Deth, and Dave Cloud's Gospel of Power)
Dude Cruise (feat. current/ex members of Big Nurse, the Mattoid, Bad Friend, Be Your Own Pet)
10 pm, at Betty's on 49th and Charlotte, across from the Richland Park library, 21+, donations for the touring band are encouraged
TV Ghost's sound has been likened to the dark post-punk of Suicide and the Cramps, but think more along the lines of Half Machine/Lip Moves era Chrome.
After a few singles on die Stasi and Columbus Discount records, TV Ghost bring their frenetic live show to our fair city. They've had some great shows on this tour (w/ Oh Sees, Wizzard Sleeve, and Teenage Jesus and the Jerks!!), so let's show em a good time in Nashville!

knowingly or not, HighonLife tactlessly sums it up nicely: "Ok, yeah cool sure, but listen to this..."
Without reading too deep, I'm pretty sure this is the correct response one week on.
NBN09 was the first time I saw Mikky Ekko. Really enjoyed his set. Also my first time seeing Phosphorescent. That show at The End with Alberta Cross was really good.
Black Angels at Exit/In was a great show. Protomen at Mercy was OK not excellent.
I missed what I heard was a great show by Disappears at Exit/In, but later that night I bought one the band's cassettes...so it wasn't a total loss. Yeah, they have a live album on cassette. Vinyl is so 2007.
Really liked the few songs I saw by Madi Diaz.
Branded Sons at Paradise Park was a good, rockin' show. Really liked seeing the NBN bands on Lower Broad.
Saturday night at The End was insanely fun.
Saw some other good stuff too.
But last Sat nite was a whole other thing.
Actually Bennett, I had a great time at NBN. Lylas and Ascent of Everest were amazing at the Anchor on Friday, and the 5 Spot show on saturday was one of the most fun shows I've played or seen in Nashville in quite a while. And the Relatives absolutely slayed, as did Crofton and Co.
I didn't see a weekend show listing like D. Patrick usually does, and I had to help a touring band fix their gear and get some food, hence no computer availability. If having tact means being an asshole who puts words in my mouth, then have fun with that.
Sorry I didn't get to the round-up this weekend. Very full week, but it'll be back soon.
HOL: I didn't even realize you're one of the dudes from Bad Friend I haven't met yet. It's finally all coming together. You guys sounded awesome too, btw. "Lemonhead Loser" rules.
Apologies HighonLife... Not meant as a dig, actually the opposite.
I thought it significant that when faced w/ a chance to re-cap NBN, the first reply was promo for an unrelated gig. NBN'09 ends and the hustle remains alive and strong in Nashville, and I fucking LOVE that!

Long Live NBN, Long Live the day-to-day grind the other 51 weeks a year!
