Haterade: Jemina Pearl's Video for 'I Hate People' Features Comedy Duo Pop & Moore

Posted by Tracy Moore on Thu, Oct 15, 2009 at 4:03 PM

We already told you about ex-BYOP charmstress Jemina Pearl's latest track, "I Hate People," off her Ecstatic Peace debut, Break It Up. It's not just a subject we could use more songs on, folks. It's also a duet with Iggy Pop, so who better than to make an "appearance" in the diner doo-wop of a video for this diner doo-wop of a song, which features Pearl as a put-out waitress and godfather-of-indie-cool Thurston Moore as the manager. Did I catch a hipster-looking guitarist with a name tag that read "Jonas #1?"

I'm usually a supporter of anything from the BYOP family tree, but this song is awful. Just awful. The video is awkwardly entertaining, though.

I agree with Andrew J, which is a strange enough occurrence that it has to be true.

i like that john's supposed to be tough and he still looks like he's 16 and couldn't win a fight with a tree branch.

Some weird sh*t is afoot if Thurston Moore and Iggy Pop are giving this whiny voiced chick the time of day. So, how much did Jemina's dad pay everyone for this vanity record?
And, man, John Eatherly is an awesome musician, but you would never know it from this piece...John, escape while you can, or rather, ride that gravy train, if it is one, until you rack up, then bail the hell out...

I think everyone, save jeremy is taking themselves way too seriously. It's a fun, kitschy song, and a fun, kitschy video. . . At least it's memorable, which is more than i can say for most anything praised in this town.

So background vocals in the chorus qualify as a duet?
