Did you ever think we'd see the day when a rock band from Nashville, Tenn., had the No. 1 hit song in all the land? Tip-top of the pops. Numero uno. The ne plus ultra of chart positions. And what's weird, really, is that in this age of "have a hit immediately or the label will pretty much forget about you," Kings of Leon have hit paydirt a full year after Only by the Night came out. I'm sure Glenn could tell you the last year-old song to make No. 1, but I'm not good with charts and I don't have his number.
Anyway. "Use Somebody": It's a song about using somebody (someone like you), and I think that's a situation we can all understand, whether we have kids or pets or neither. Bat for Lashes covered it. Paramore covered it. And the video was nominated for a VMA. Would Kanye have interrupted the Followills the way he--oh, nevermind.

I'm absolutely amazed. This is the nicest article The Scene has ever written about KOL. I'm sure you will slag them in the comments though.
I personally am really proud of them.
Kings of Leon, Imma let you finish, but Charlie Daniels is the best Wilson County musician of all time!
The ascent of the pop music moutain! Now for the downward slide!
