First, the good news: Texas rap legend and UGK co-founder Bun B will be appearing and signing autographs at Phat Kaps in Antioch tomorrow from 2 to 5 p.m. LenDale White, Chris Johnson and a bunch of other Titans will be there to sign stuff as well, which would be a lot more awesome if yesterday's loss wasn't quite so heart-wrenching. (C'mon guys, just seal the deal! Enough of this fourth quarter losing-by-a-field-goal bullshit--yer killin' me!) So, anyway, think of some encouraging words so our boys in blue feel ready to rip Mark Sanchez and the Jets a new one this weekend. God, I hate the fucking Jets....

And the bad news: Legendary turntablist and founding member of The X-cutioners (X-Men if you're old school) Grand Master Roc Raida passed away on Saturday after complications arose in the wake of a Mixed Martial Arts accident. In my personal opinion, Roc Raida was the greatest DJ of his generation, and the Stuck in the Past mixtapes (on cassette, none of this re-issue CD bullshit) are the high-water mark by which all mixtapes should be judged. I was fortunate enough to catch him live a number of times and it was always thrilling. More than just a master of record manipulation, Roc Raida was a consummate showman and musical genius--"Chief Rocka" still sends shivers down my spine. He was also a producer on O.C.'s Word...Life, one of the best hip hop albums ever recorded, not to mention classics by Sadat X and Big Pun. He will be missed.

After the jump, Roc Raida gets ill on the ones and twos while I get all misty-eyed...

This was the routine that won the DMCs in 1995. The fidelity is kinda low, but since my copy of this tape was eaten by my VCR years ago, you're stuck with it.

Nobody rocked the bells quite like Raida.

From the classic X-men video tape, which makes me wish I still owned a VCR. That tape is off-the-charts dope!

Double-speed "Brass Monkey" beat-juggle!!! And that's the low point!!!

There's a joke in here somewhere about Salt-N-Pepa loving those fingers, but it might be a bit inappropriate.

Ugly people be quiet! No, really.

X-Ecutioners team up with their West Coast contemporaries Invisbl Skratch Picklz for an orgy of awesomeness. Many crossfaders died to bring us this information.

The X-Ecutioners with M.O.P.-- I'm gonna assume this what heaven sounds like.

If you can rock a propeller beanie and still be this badass, you know you got something special.

This is the scratch that's makin' me itch. Vaya con dios, Roc Raida.
