Update: It is indeed John Fogerty, who posted to his Twitter account: "HEY TONIGHT: @AmericanaFest - who's in town for the fest? Drop by Mercy Lounge 9PM/Nashville-2nt for special guest performance...;-)"

Hey, tonight there's gonna be a secret show, tonight. By day's end, you'll either know me as the boy who cried wolf (again!), or the dude who let you know which Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee you have the opportunity of seeing in a 500-capacity club, tonight.

According to the Mercy Lounge's website tonight's AMA show at the club will feature a "SPECIAL SURPRISE GUEST." Also appearing on this bill will be The Rustlanders, Band of Heathens, Dexateens and Those Darlins. According to the Darlins' Twitter:

Special guest at Wed's show that doesn't come close to suckin. Check out the Ama press releases guess at who it is cause we can't tell you!

An announcement revealing the identity of this secret performer is expected to come sometime around 1 p.m., so be sure to check back for an update. I can tell you that the surprise artist is not Spring Hill Spider Party, Metallica or Pavement. Also, I'll do your due diligence for you and let you know that the Kings of Leon are--coincidentally enough--in Canada once again tonight. This time in Montreal, as opposed to Vancouver.

As far as hints go, I can tell you that this may or may not be an artist who was strongly opposed to the Iraq war, yet beloved by George W. Bush. He/they may or may not have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after 1991, but before 1995. He/they may or may not have written the greatest protest song ever. He/they may or may not originally hail from California. He/they may or may not have had a lot of singles reach No. 2 on the charts. He/they may or may not be about to receive an award previously given to John Hiatt, Willie Nelson, Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark, Cowboy Jack Clement, John Prine and Billy Joe Shaver.

Any guesses?

so the picture of W. isn't because he likes to rock, it's because that is the TX "Hook 'em Horns" symbol that you use for TX football games...they just happen to require the same hand muscle formations. Just a thought coming from Austin.

That hand gesture happens to be a masonic symbol of the owl-god molech (look it up in the bible....leviticus somewhere around the 15th chapter) to which members of the super-elite bohemian club sacrifice an 'effigy' of a child every year at a ceremony they call the cremation of care. I don't think its an effigy. If you have what it takes to eat a baby, its pretty easy to give the order to kill thousands of iraquis!

It's "Moloch," Mr. Jimmy. And it's the bohemian "grove," Mr. Jimmy. And it's all to be feared, Mr. Jimmy.
