Remember that one time Pavement played at The 5 Spot? Yeah, I wasn't there. But I did see Pavement on the Crooked Rain tour (which technically makes me cooler), and that blew my collegiate, history-referencing, cryptic, sloppy, lo-fi, witty mind.
Now, fave record. While I will always have a soft spot for the sloppy charm of Slanted and Enchanted ("Zurich Is Stained," holla), Crooked Rain is still really the essence of Pavement for me. But the record I go back to most often is still Wowee Zowee. And I think Terror Twilight ruled way harder than I feel it got credit for. Was it so bad that Pavement got "better" in the traditional sense--you know, tighter, more melodic? They had to ditch The Fall eventually. Discuss.
