As everybody in the tri-state area knows, Buzzfest is happening tonight. An anonymous riverfront interloper sent us this picture of the goings-on at the BuzzBin this morning, where roadies and stage people are working nostalgically to get set up for The Biggest Refugee Camp for the Un-hip Since Last Spring's Crawfish Boil (TM). Nothing gets going until 3 p.m., when the national anthem will kick off the grungy festivities that include the likes of Alice in Chains and Cage the Elephant. In the meantime, we were sent a few overheard quotes from crew members: "Gettin' older, still don't give a fuck." "There were only, like, four white people there. Seriously." "Wait, this is for 102.9 the buzz? Like the radio station?"

The fourth saddest place to be on September 11th, after NYC, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvanian field.

Ironically, the hippest place to be in Nashville tonight is only a stone's throw away at Mad Donna's (near 5 points, across from Lipstick Lounge) where BFF will be making it's debut! DJ's Burgers and Fan Fiction will be spinning hot ELECTROJAMZ till last call. And it's FREE!

@NashvilleRock. Buzzfest has already started. Don't you have somewhere to be right now?

@Gold...nope, I'm not a big fan of the lineup this year. Plus, I don't run out to something like a brain dead zombie just because my local media says so.

Ha! Look at the two trendy kids trying to out-clever one another.
Buzzfest's line-up is wretched. And I'm doing a survey - Who hates Cage the Elephant?

Wow, what a dissapointment..Chevelle was great, and after talking my girl into standing in the pouring rain with me to see mudvayne and alice, after at least 90 miniutes of it, they never came on stage..so, I finally had to get her(and me) out of there, was freezing and pissed off because mudvayne didn't want to get their makeup wet? WTF! Metal band afraid of rain?..ok. What a bunch of pussies! Really dissapointed..hope they finally finished the show, this old bastard had to go home..

Hold on, the two biggest acts of the night didn't take the stage? If that is the case, there will be no 'next year'.

First, I absolutely HATE Cage the Elephant. My opinion, my choice. Second, slamming Mudvayne for not wanting to risk life and limb playing on a stage made of metal in a thunderstorm is retarded. I'm sure they were thrilled that they made a trek all the way to Nashville to not perform. Talk shit when you've worked in the industry.
We cover the hard rock/metal stuff on our site but we are entitled to not like some of it too. If we swing from every hard bands' nuts then we might as well be Nashville Street Team .net.

@NashvilleRock.net - What thunderstorm? There wasn't a single bolt of lighting?

first off, This was an all-metal stage on a floating barge powered by lethal voltages supplied by two diesel generators on land! The roof we had didnt stop any rain even if you were standing right in the middle of the stage.we had to make sure the multi thousand dollar elctrical equipment was covered, all the guitars and every one was safe from being electrocuted on stage. Then even even the power shorted out! After the rain started to calm down, some fucking asshole hit the bass tech in the eye with a full bottle of gator aid or something practily knocking him out,he coundnt stand for minutes! then i seen a bottle shatter on mudveins drumset. Do you really think they were going to come up on a stage and play riddled with bottles, shoes and broken glass and fucked up drums?? Alice in chains were going to pay the extra fine to play later in the evening but the water and empty wiskey bottles kept flying on the stage.WE even had towels and squeegies to dry off the stage, but fucking idiots kept throwing shit!! No one wanted to set foot on that stage let alone the bands!!! So you P.O.S can b thanked for no show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nonetheless... If you advertise a show for RAIN OR SHINE... then Be fucking prepared to deal with the rain... what a fucking waste of money.

Agreed. Blame HAS to go somewhere, and if the stage was set up in a way that it was NOT a "rain or shine stage", then it looks like the people responsible for the stage are to blame. In the end, not being prepared for what was ultimately just some rain ruined the show. As for fans throwing whiskey bottles etc. onto the stage...lol, what do you expect from thousands of rock fans? That's what rock fans do. They can to see rock...rock didn't happen. Don't put the blame on the fans, they were justly pissed off.

In Reference to the rain or shine crap! and the asshole who thinks it's safe to play in the rain! I'll be more than glad to hook you up to lets say 480 volts standing in water. You my stupid friend have never touched anything musical in your life, except maybe a meat flute! Rain plus gear plus human plus ground equals SHOCK!! I personally think the bands did the right thing. now lets see if the promotion company follows suit?

I was extremely dissapointed by the fact that I stood there in the freezing POURING rain forever hoping to see Mudvayne and Alice in Chains. I could barely afford to go to that show but I did because I love live music, but the stage should have been properly equipped to withstand the rain especially since the tickets said RAIN OR SHINE. Personally I think that every person that still has their ticket stub should get a partial refund. Or SOMETHING. This was my third Buzzfest and by far the worst!

Well it was my 3 concert in my lifetime 2 of which my intentions were to see Alice in Chains and a long time ago they were supposed to be at Starwood with Metallica and didn't show. So how's that for luck? I had a great time but I've never been to anything like that and went VIP. I do wish I could have jammed with alice in chains. Cavo did come up to the vip and play in the rain under the tent but danger is danger. Why did they promise rain or shine. I don't blame anyone for the rain. Believe me a lot worse s happens in a lifetime.
