If you were planning on going to see inflammatory meta-rockers The Tits tonight at Mercy Lounge, think again. They have decided to call an end to their reign of rock for the time being. The Scene spoke to Tits bassist Dave McCowen, who said:
We cancelled [tonight's show] and that might just be that...it might just be an indefinite hiatus thing...I feel bad about the situation, but shit happens.
The band formed in 2006 and relocated to Nashville shortly thereafter. In that time they've managed to ruffle a few feathers, offend a few Christians and inspire a power-rock-starved city to both bang their heads and argue on the Cream. All they did was rock and roll. As far as a farewell show goes, McCowen said that it's just too early to know if there will be any future activity by the band.
This by no means implies that the band's members will vanish from the local scene. Singer/guitarist Christian Rigdon also plays with newcomers CCTV (short for Cobra Cheetah Tiger Viper, featuring members of De Novo Dahl and The Non-Commissioned Officers)--they're playing tonight at The End--and McCowen and drummer Matt Hearn comprise the current rhythm section for Turbo Fruits, who appear tomorrow night at the Rabbit Press release party.

Damn. So if anyone wants to start a band we could call it ASS, or maybe The Balls. I will miss those loud shows of fun and debauchery.
